Expensive (5e Variant Rule)

Expensive

Expensive. A character can never gain this weapon as starting equipment from their class.

In other words, a textbook fighter can't start with two of these. Generally, any weapon that costs 100 gp (or 150 gp for a martial ranged weapon) is expensive. This is twice the cost of the most expensive weapons in the SRD.
