This steel rod looks very identical to an immovable rod. You can use an action to press the button, which causes the rod to become magically suspend itself in place. If you or another creature tries to move the rod, it moves easily, but unless it is being intentionally moved by a creature it suspends itself in place, even if it is defying gravity. The rod can hold up to 8,000 pounds of weight. More weight causes the rod to deactivate and fall. All weight placed on top of the rod moves with the rod and does not fall off the rod until the button is pressed. When the button is pressed, all objects fall of the rod, and it falls to the ground, no longer ignoring gravity.
