When targeted by a melee attack from a creature within 5 feet of you, you can use your reaction to get into a counter stance. While in this stance you only take half damage from the melee attack. When hit by the melee attack by that creature while in your counter stance, your shield or melee weapon ignites in flame. Make a melee attack against that creature, on a hit the creature takes damage equal to weapon's damage die plus 1d8 fire damage.
This spell’s damage increases by 1d8 when you reach 5th level (2d8), 11th level (3d8), and 17th level (4d8)
