(Japanese: はじめての戦い The First Battle) is the fourth chapter of the Pokémon RéBURST manga.
Plot
Ryouga and Miruto are shocked to see that Hilgreitz has used Burst to turn into an Excadrill-like form. Hilgreitz tells them the machines used in Madoro town were just a by-product of the Great Gavel's research into Burst Hearts. He also relishes the thought of the suffering the experiments might inflict on Pokémon, which appalls Miruto and Ryouga. Miruto encourages Ryouga to run away, but he decides instead to face Hilgreitz head-on in a battle between Burst Warriors. He instructs her to stay away from the fighting, and starts his battle with Hilgreitz.
At first, the two appear evenly matched, with Miruto amazed at the speed and power of a battle between two Burst Warriors. Ryouga begins to weaken, though, as Hilgreitz seems unfazed by his repeated electrical attacks. Miruto then shouts out from her hiding place that since Hilgreitz has merged with the Ground-type Excadrill, Electric-type moves will have no effect on him. Hilgreitz charges up a powerful drill attack and declares that with their type match up, Ryouga winning against him is impossible, causing Ryouga to become enraged.
