The photo creator (Japanese: フォトメーカー) is a feature in Pokémon Masters EX introduced in version 2.42.0, and is unlocked after completing Chapter 1 of the PML Arc. It allows the player to arrange and take photos of Trainers and share them with other players. It is accessible from the menu and the player's profile.
Mechanics
Photo shoot
Players can start a photo shoot session with up to three Trainers from sync pairs that the player currently owns. Duplicates of the same Trainer are allowed to be in the same photo. If a sync pair is wearing their EX style, this will be reflected in the photo; the player can switch a sync pair between their EX style and their regular style from the photo creator without having to return to the Pokémon Center. If a sync pair wearing an arc suit is included in the photo, their halo will appear behind them.
Trainers can be freely moved across the photo space, as well as how far into the foreground or background they are. Their model can also rotated around a vertical axis to change the direction they face. These actions can be performed via the device's touchscreen or be more intricately manipulated in the Advanced Settings. In the Advanced Settings, Trainer models can have their position locked to prevent accidental movement when rearranging other subjects. Players can also hide Trainer models to more easily view other Trainers in the frame; this effect is not permanent, as all hidden models will be unhidden once the photo is taken.
Up to 20 photo shoots can be saved per player; the player can resume a saved photo shoot at any time. However, only one photo can be featured on the user's profile at a time. Once a photo is saved to a profile, switching a Trainer's EX style will not be reflected in the photo unless the player retakes the photo and saves it after making the change.
Poses
Players can choose how the Trainers pose themselves in the photo. Each Trainer has unique poses, anywhere from five to ten different poses. Each Trainer also has their own array of facial expressions, which can also range from five to ten different selections.
Starting in version 2.50.0, all Trainers will also have one special pose, labeled as SP 1 in the pose menu. These poses reflect the Trainer's
6★ EX pose. It is available regardless of whether the sync pair is currently raised to 6★ EX or if they can be raised to 6★ EX at all. If this pose is selected, the player cannot choose a different expression, nor can they rotate the Trainer's model. Certain Trainers also have a second special pose.
Backgrounds
Players can select the background for which the Trainer will be situated in front of. There are three categories of backgrounds to choose from: Simple, Pasio Scenery, and Special. Certain backgrounds can be unlocked from general or limited-time missions.
Frames
Players can select the frame of the photo. There are three categories of backgrounds to choose from: Simple, Gorgeous, and Special. Certain frames can be unlocked from limited-time missions or by teaming up with certain sync pairs.
Filters
Players can apply static filters and animated effects—one each—to the photo.
The selection of filters include:
- Flash
- Cool
- Cream
- Vivid
- Sepia
- Monochrome
- Red
- Green
- Yellow
- Blue
Random View
The Random View feature lets players browse through the profiles of players around the world. The profiles are chosen randomly each time Random View is selected. Players can curate their search by filtering profile photos by featured Trainer and theme skill. Players can also send friend requests, send likes, or report profiles from this screen.
Trivia
- Prior to an unknown version, hiding an arc suit sync pair in the photo creator would hide the Trainer, but not their halo. By taking a screenshot while the Trainer was hidden, players could share photos where a non-arc suit sync pair appeared to have a halo behind them.
