Pidgeot Loves Pidgetta
ピジョー&ピジョコの恋物語
The Love Story of Pigeot and Pigeko
Pidgeot Loves Pidgetta (Japanese: ピジョー&ピジョコの恋物語 The Love Story of Pigeot and Pigeko) is the 22nd chapter of the Magical Pokémon Journey manga.
Plot
Hazel is apple picking with Pikachu, Clefairy, and Jigglypuff, when a flock of Pidgeotto suddenly descends upon them. One of them grabs hold of Pikachu, then flies off with it. Hazel leads the other Pokémon after it, running toward a tree with a large nest at the top. She climbs up, where she finds Pikachu in a gift basket. As the two share a happy reunion, they hear an argument between a male Pidgeot and a female Pidgeotto, named Pidgetta. The Pidgeot asserts that because he has his Pidgeotto underlings procure such rare and lavish gifts for Pidgetta, she should know that he is the right one for her. Angered, Pidgetta declares she hates Pidgeot, and flies away.
As Pidgeot sulks, Hazel grabs him by the throat and demands he apologize for kidnapping Pikachu. After he does so, she excitedly asks him about his love life with Pidgetta. He explains that they used to be friends when they were Pidgey, and he had brought her presents nearly every day, but recently, she stopped speaking to him. Eager to figure out the kind of gift Pidgetta truly wants, Hazel rushes off to find her.
Spotting Pidgetta on a branch, Hazel pulls herself up to sit with her. When she asks about Pidgeot, Pidgetta shows her a hollow in the tree containing extravagant gifts that he had his underlings acquire for him to give to her. Among them, Hazel finds a wilted flower.
Pidgeot soon flies over to them, holding a string of pearls one of his underlings extracted from the ocean. When Pidgetta yells at him, Hazel draws their attention to the wilted flower, asking about it. Pidgetta reveals the flower is the only gift she had received from Pidgeot that he had found himself, and she has treasured it since. Pidgetta tearfully explains that she does not like who Pidgeot has become—someone who bosses around others to give her gifts. She flies away, leaving Pidgeot dumbstruck.
Holding the wilted flower out to Pidgeot, Hazel tells him that she would appreciate any gift Almond gave her from his heart, and asks if he understands what she is talking about. Pidgeot then accepts the flower, and Hazel watches him take it to Pidgetta. The two have a conversation that she cannot hear, then embrace.
Later, Hazel walks home with her Pokémon, uplifted by the love between Pidgeot and Pidgetta. She sees Almond with Squirtle, then rushes over to join him.
