match

match is a Japanese digital illustrator who began providing artwork for the Pokémon Trading Card Game in 2009, with their first illustrations debuting in the HeartGold & SoulSilver expansion. Like similar digital artists, match applies many strokes utilizing a graphics tablet in image editing software to create their images.
match uses pattern brushes in select areas to achieve the desired texture in some illustrations, and often uses a subtle color palette combined with emphasis on light and shadow to help define the main subject, frequently accompanied by a prominent outline. In some cases, this technique gives an illusion of a 3D rendered model. In addition to providing artwork for the Pokémon TCG, match also began providing art for the Dimension-Zero TCG in 2010.
