A location preview is an image of an area that is shown when it is accessed, featured in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen and Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. This feature is not employed for all locations.
FireRed and LeafGreen
In FireRed and LeafGreen, the previews are also used by the Town Map's guide feature but they are displayed with a tinted overlay in order to make the text clearer.
HeartGold and SoulSilver
In HeartGold and SoulSilver, all of the previews were drawn by Saya Tsuruta.[1]
