Featured sync pairs Chase & Pikachu

Let's Go for Number One! (Japanese: 1位目指してレッツゴー Let's Go for Number One) was a time trial event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on the sync pair Chase & Pikachu.

The "Chase Poké Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Chase & Pikachu for the duration of the event.

During this event, players could challenge battles that had a timer to try to achieve the fastest possible time. They would receive a grade based on how quickly the battle was completed, and each grade awarded a different number of points. Players could earn various rewards based on the total number of points accumulated, including 5★ Scout Tickets and a 5★ Power-Up. A special story area could be unlocked after accumulating 10,000 points.

Event missions could be completed by clearing the battles in a certain amount of time, as well as clearing the battles quickly while using sync pairs with certain theme skills. Completing these awarded players with various rewards, such as Gems, medals, and Yellow Skill Feathers.

Initially, only four missions were available; additional missions were added over the first seven days of the event. Several of these could only be completed by clearing Challenge Pasio's Trainers: Part 2, which was unlocked on February 4, 2024. The 3★ and 4★ medals for this event could only be obtained after this battle was unlocked.

Plot

In the city, the player, Scottie or Bettie, and Elaine have just learned that a time trial is about to take place. They consider entering, but they need a third sync pair to form a team. Suddenly, Elaine's friend Chase arrives, learns about the time trials, and asks to join their team. Elaine introduces Chase to the player, mentioning that he's good at running, and his Pikachu, saying that he's unique similarly to her Eevee. After assuring the player that he's good at Pokémon battles, he races off so they can start practicing together as a team.

After the time trials are over, the player, Elaine, and Chase return to the city to see how they placed. To their shock, they discover that Red's team placed first. Just then, Red and his Pikachu arrive, alongside his teammates Blue and Leaf. Blue commends the player's team for almost reaching their time. After a little more competitive banter, Red, Blue, and Leaf leave. Chase vows that he and his partner will become a better sync pair than Red and Pikachu one day, and he and Pikachu race off towards the sunset.

Chase We're number one!
Chase When it comes to speed, I'm second to none! Whether it's racing or battling, we won't lose!
Right, partner?
(Chase's Pikachu cheers)

  • The Fast Runner from Pallet Town
Name Text
(City; the player and Elaine are looking at a screen)
Elaine Uh-huh... So you compete for the best time in a Pokémon battle?
I wanna do it too, <player>!

Let's aim for first place!: Yes!
Oh, but aren't teams of three the norm here on Pasio?

We need one more...: Oh yeah—a team on Pasio usually has three people!
I wonder if there's anyone who'd join us...
??? Hey! Elaine!
(A Pikachu runs up to the player; Chase runs up after it)
??? We're here!
Elaine Chase?!
Chase Heya, Elaine, Eevee!
(Elaine's Eevee greets Chase and his Pikachu)
Chase There's a lot of people here... Is something going on?
(Chase notices the player)
Chase And you are...?
Elaine This is <player>. We're about to take on the Pokémon battle time trial together...
Chase A time trial?! Wow! Sounds cool!
We wanna join too! Can we? Can we pleeease?
(Chase's Pikachu cries out eagerly)
Elaine Not before you introduce yourself to <player>! Or should I do it?
This is Chase!
And as you just saw, he loves running his mouth as much as, well...running!
Oh, he's also from the same place as me—Pallet Town!
Chase Nice to meet you, <player>!
Nice to meet you!: Hehe! If it's speed you need, look no further!
I hear you're quick!: Yup! When it comes to a foot race, I won't lose to anyone!
(Pikachu cries out)
Elaine Chase's Pikachu is a little unusual, kinda like my Eevee.
Chase Yeah! It doesn't like to go back in its ball, and it can use Secret Techniques!
We're awful good at Pokémon battles, too!
Seriously, just ask Elaine—we helped her out plenty of times back in Kanto!
Elaine *grumble*
I was the one that helped YOU out, remember?
Chase All right! Let's go and practice as a team!
Let's start by racing to the square over there!
Ready, set...go!
(Chase and Pikachu run off)
Elaine Hey! Wait up, Chase!
(Elaine and Eevee run after them)

  • Chasing Distant Footsteps
Name Text
(City; Chase, Elaine, and the player are gathered in front of the screen)
Chase I wonder how we placed!
Elaine I think we got a pretty good time...
(Chase and Elaine turn around to look at the screen)
Chase OK! The team in first place is...
R-Red's team...
??? Bonjour! Chase, Elaine, <player>!
(Red, Blue, and Leaf appear, with Red wearing his thunderbolt sygna suit)
Red ... ... ...
Chase Red! Blue! Leaf!
(Red, Blue, and Leaf step forward to check the scores)
Blue You really had us on our toes—our teams made nearly the same time!
Nice work. But don't go thinking you're in for an easy win next time.
Chase Same goes for you!
Blue Haha! That's the spirit!
Red ... ... ...
(Red's Pikachu and Chase's Pikachu both crackle with electricity; Red, Blue, and Leaf leave)
Chase Ahh...
We've still got a ways to go before we catch up to them...
One day...one day we'll be a better pair than Red and Pikachu!
Partner!
Let's stay the path together until we're the strongest we can be!
Whoa! I just can't stand still right now!
Let's race to the sunset! Ready, set...go!
(Chase and Pikachu run off, to Elaine's shock)
Elaine Let's chase them!: Suuure, why not...
What should we do?: Let's follow them. Just, uh...slowly.

Trivia

  • The opponents in Challenge Pasio's Trainers: Part 1 are the same as the opponents from Top Speed.
  • Chase and Elaine both claiming to have helped each other out in battles may be a reference to the co-op feature in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, which allows two players to battle Trainers together.
