There are many varieties of Friend Gifts, each one capable of recruiting specific types or species of Pokémon. These variations only differ in the Pokémon they can recruit, with the success rate and sprite of all Friend Gifts remaining identical. They can be purchased at the Gift Shop in exchange for specific items and money, found in certain dungeons, or unlocked through a Wonder Mail password on the main menu.
Gifts will not work in areas where recruitment is not possible, or if the enemy is using a move such as Bide . However, gifts are only consumed if they are used successfully.
