Flareon ex and Leafeon ex (also known as Eevee Box) is a Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket deck archetype introduced in Eevee Grove in 2025. It is an Eeveelution-focused deck that pivots between the titular Pokémon ex, amassing an Energy advantage and dealing quick damage with Leafeon ex while Flareon ex recycles used Energy to close out the game with its high damage.
Strategy
This deck uses Flareon ex and Leafeon ex as its main attackers, relying on Leafeon ex's ability to generate
Energy so that it can run only
in the Energy Zone to fuel Flareon ex. The focus on Eeveelutions means the deck plays both Eevee and Eevee ex, alongside a single Sylveon ex for draw power.
Because all Pokémon in the deck have a Retreat Cost of
, pitching Energy to the discard pile is simple, letting Flareon ex pick them up with Combust. Leafeon ex can also easily and quickly start attacking due to only requiring a single
Energy, making it easy for the deck to build up multiple attackers and switch between them to distribute damage. The deck also plays non-ex Leafeon as a counter to Pom-Pom Oricorio.
Weaknesses
Because Eevee needs to wait a turn to evolve, each newly-played Eevee is vulnerable to being picked off for a turn, particularly by strong Fighting-type Pokémon that can hit it for weakness. Garchomp ex, for instance, can easily knock out an active Eevee on turn 3 thanks to Rare Candy, and Supporters like Cyrus or Sabrina can score 2 easy points off Eevee ex.
Additionally, Flareon ex must take damage to use Combust, making it fairly fragile. A single use is enough to make it far more vulnerable to one-hit knockouts, most notably from an opposing Flareon ex or Giratina ex, and also makes it vulnerable to Cyrus.
Key cards
Eevee Grove
- Flareon ex - The deck's strongest attacker, Flareon ex can stack used Energy on itself with its Combust ability to deal high consistent late-game damage. Retreating puts
Energy in the discard pile for Flareon ex to pick up.
- Sylveon ex - Draws 2 cards when played, increasing the deck's consistency. Sylveon ex is never used to attack.
- Eevee ex - Serves as two additional Eevee for Evolution.
- Eevee Bag - Grants flexible and powerful benefits for Eeveelutions, which all Stage 1 Pokémon in the deck are.
Other packs
- Leafeon ex - In contrast to Flareon ex, Leafeon ex can build up very quickly by attaching
energy from the Energy Zone, pressuring the opponent early on. The high amount of Colorless Energy in its attack cost means it can also freely use
Energy.
- Leafeon - This Leafeon deals more damage per hit than Leafeon ex, and can notably OHKO Pom-Pom Oricorio (which otherwise walls the deck) even with Giant Cape attached. Leafeon ex generates the single
needed.
Typical decklist
The deck list below is meant to represent an average build of the archetype, not specifically constructed for any given metagame. Note the number of Supporter and Item cards is highly variable, depending on play style.
Possible tech cards
- Pokémon Communication - Can be used for added consistency by trading out unwanted Eeveelutions.
- Red Card - Can pair with Mars to cut down on opponents' card advantage and consistency, particularly when facing opposing Sylveon ex decks.
- Eevee - Unlike the Eevee Grove print, the Genetic Apex print of Eevee deals damage with its attack, letting it deal reliable chip damage before evolving.
