In Enter The Dragonite, Drake used Dragonite as his final Pokémon in his Full Battle against Ash. It was shown to be a very strong battler. With its impressive speed and power, it was able to take out Charizard, Squirtle, and Tauros, although all three managed to land at least one blow on Dragonite before they fainted. Even though it fought three of Ash's Pokémon, it was still able to defeat Team Rocket when they tried another attempt at capturing it when it was tired out.
It then had to battle Pikachu in the last round of the match. Despite being tired out from the previous battles, it managed to put up a good fight against Pikachu, but, after a fierce battle, it was defeated by Pikachu's use of a Thunder attack while positioned on Dragonite's head, making Ash an Honored Trainer of the Orange League.
Personality and characteristics
Drake's Dragonite is truly a force to be reckoned. Drake holds his Dragonite in high regard, even keeping a modeled statue of it and its Poké Ball around his neck, a testament to their bond. This particular Dragonite is renowned for its unyielding stamina and incredible resilience, consistently overpowering numerous trainers before its clash with Ash. It's a testament to its indomitable spirit that, even after a grueling battle against four of Ash's Pokémon, including a tough struggle against Charizard, Dragonite still possessed the might to defeat half of Ash's team. Despite being tired from its prior victories, Dragonite enough fourth Pokémon to faced Ash's Pikachu, putting up a fierce battle before finally being defeated by a strategic Thunder attack.
Dragonite makes an appearance in Pikachu's Plan, where it was the last Pokémon Drake used to battle Ash. It went up against Squirtle as its first opponent and won easily. Charizard was next, and after a long battle, Dragonite emerged victorious. Lastly, it battled Pikachu and lost when Pikachu crawled into its mouth and used Thunder, giving Ash the victory.

Trivia
According to Atsuhiro Tomioka in his comments in "The Memorial Book of Orange Islands", he had a hard time writing down the scene(s) of Dragonite that depicted it as a ridiculously strong opponent for Ash.[1] This may refer to the fact that Dragonite used ten different moves during one episode.
