A department store is typically the largest shop in a given region, usually featuring the widest selection of purchasable goods available for Trainers.

Prominent departments stores in the Pokémon world include:

Trivia

• Even though most department store rooftops are open air (the stores in Generation IV are not), and seemingly a perfect place to fly from, a player cannot use Fly to leave the rooftop. The player's Pokémon will only fly from the ground, due to the rooftop being programmed as an "indoor" location.
