The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou/YMMV
- Alternate Character Interpretation: There are those who believe Klaus sabotaged the helicopter to get Ned out of the picture and take his place as Steve's surrogate son. Futhermore, due to Ned's posthumous appearance in the ending credits roll call, some believe that his death was faked by Steve for ratings.
- One alternate interpretation of the movie is that nothing we see is real... that the story we're watching is just as fake as, well, the overall movie itself starring Bill Murray, just that it's Steve Zissou doing the acting.
- Crowning Music of Awesome: "Search and Destroy".
- Seu Jorge's Brazilian Portuguese covers of David Bowie.
- Sigur Ros. Full stop.
- Older Than They Think: Seu Jorge' "Astronauta de Marmóre" (Starman) lyrics were composed by Brazilian southern rock band "Nenhum de Nós" in 1988(in fact, by radio charts, it was the biggest hit of the year on the latino country). This caused a lot of friction between fans of the band and the musician because "Nenhum de Nós" went uncredited in the movie(it doesn't help that the lyrics, though also space-related, are very different of Starman).
- Tear Jerker: Ned's very sudden death.
- The scene where they find the Jaguar Shark and Steve decides not to kill it; "I wonder if it remembers me?"
- It goes into Crowning Moment of Funny when he reveals they were out of dynamite.
