These things about The Dark Knight (film) are subjective - not everyone will agree with all of them.

  • Award Snub: A good amount of critics were disappointed that the film didn't win Best Picture at the Oscars.
  • Even Better Sequel: The film improved everything from Batman Begins and is considered one of the best films of the late 2000s.
  • Fountain of Memes: The Joker.
  • Genre Turning Point: The film legitimized superhero films as a form of art.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Throughout the film, one of the main issues is the Love Triangle between Bruce, Rachel, and Harvey, and Rachel's death is the major reason Harvey becomes Two-Face. In Batman: Telltale, Harvey goes through something similar, but in that series, Harvey becomes Two-Face after catching Bruce and Selina together and assuming they are having an affair, which depending on the player's choices, can be accurate if the player chose to have Bruce and Selina spend the night together.
  • Signature Line: "Why so serious?"
  • Tough Act to Follow:
    • Heath Ledger's iconic performance made future Joker actors aside from Joaquin Phoenix a tough act to follow.
    • For the film itself, The Dark Knight Rises didn't do as well for critics.
