Mister Rogers' Neighborhood/Tear Jerker
From the show
- In terms of the series itself, there are two: The goldfish episode in 1970, and the week-long series intended to help children cope with The Day After in 1983.
About Fred Rogers
- Mr. Rogers' sad death due to stomach cancer. The whole world may as well have been crying.
- Watching this show after he died of cancer. Just hearing him sing "it's such a good feeling to know that you're alive..." * sniff*
- And then there's his goodbye speech. *sob*
- And also, there's the tribute bumper from UNC-TV with a tearful Read-A-Roo and Mr. McFeely comforts her.
Mr. McFeely: (as she comforts Read-A-Roo) Yeah, I miss him too! |
- Seriously. People would think this kindhearted man hurt children unintentionally in the long run. Some of the comments that come up from viewers later in the program point out exactly how ridiculous this is.
- True story: Fred Rogers's car was stolen. And then returned the next day, intact, untouched ... with a note on the steering wheel: "We didn't know it was yours."
