Milli Vanilli/YMMV
These things about Milli Vanilli are subjective - not everyone will agree with all of them.
- Covered Up: "Tell Me Where It Hurts" is better known in the Philippines for its acoustic cover by the band MYMP, though said cover is actually a cover of a cover by Christian singer Kathy Troccoli.
- Overshadowed by Controversy: Very much in spades, though many have pointed out Double Standards with MV taking the piss from critics just for being exposed as frauds while performers who are accused of employing ghost singers such as Jennifer Lopez get away with it scot-free.
- Vindicated by History: That isn't to say that the duo is damned to be just the industry laughing stock and a cautionary tale on manufactured pop music, though. More recent assessments of Milli Vanilli have presented them in a more sympathetic light as victims of a ruthless industry and not necessarily the perpetrators of a musical hoax for money and clout; they were young and desperate to make a name for themselves and thus are not to blame for what befell them.
