Bogus Skill "Fruitmaster" (anime)
Bogus Skill <<Fruitmaster>> is an anime set in a fantasy world where people may eat a special fruit that bestows upon them one skill, which can range in use from giving the bearer a mundane utility to extraordinary abilities. Distributed by the church, these fruits may only be eaten once, as consuming even just one more will poison and kill the consumer, making the skill one receives from the fruit a life defining event.
Protagonist Light Underwood and his friend Lena both attend the church to eat the fruit, with Light seeking a skill that would make him a great adventurer, and Lena seeking to follow in his footsteps. Lena is blessed with the rare and powerful Sword Saint ability, and is recruited by the church to be an adventurer on the spot. Meanwhile Light is granted the Fruitmaster skill, and is informed it merely has agricultural utility. Resigned to the life of a poor farmer as Lena rockets to fame as an adventurer, he is made to take in a small girl Alya to work on his farm. After a mishap, both consume the fruit as part of a meal. While Alya has yet to consume the fruit, Light quickly comes to terms with his impending death, only to find that he has not died. Using Alya's new analysis skill, the duo find that Light's Fruitmaster skill prevents death from the consumption of more skill fruit. Having gained the powerful Sword God skill, the two set out in search of adventure.
